Art. 1 Due date

The International Opera Competition “Giacinto Prandelli” is open to adult opera singers, 35 years of age limit as at February 19th 2017. To enter the Competition the ON LINE APPLICATION is compulsory by January 26th 2017

2) ENTRY FEE

The competitors must complete their registration by paying the entry fee of 70,00 (seventy) euros by bank transfer or on line at www.scrignopagofacile.it

(Extra fees for the bank transfer will be charged by the competitor).

 

3) REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION

Incomplete or late applications won’t be accepted and the competitor won’t be admitted to the Competition. The entry fee is not refundable.

Art. 3 Programme

Each competitor must present 5 (five) opera arias, by memory and in original language and with relative “recitativo” or “cabaletta” when expected AMONG WHICH 1 (one) COMPULSORY CHOOSEN FROM THE LIST BELOW to be performed in case of admission to the Final (the transpositions are permitted when consolidated by tradition and – however - the judgment of the Committee is unappealable. In case of a rejection the competitor will be informed by February 6th 2017, with the option of replacing the song within 8 days). Each competitors must present to the qualifying and semifinal rounds with his/her own music programme.

Art. 4 Conditions 

The competition consists of 3 rounds: 

Qualifying round - Auditorium San Barnaba (Brescia) on February 20th, 21st and 22nd 2017, from 10am to 1pm and from 6pm to 9pm. The competitors will perform 2 (two) opera arias.

Semifinal round - Auditorium San Barnaba (Brescia) on February 23rd 2017, from 10am to 1pm and from 6pm to 9pm. The competitors will perform 2 (two) opera arias, different from those performed during the Qualifying round. Qualifying and Semifinal will be open to the public.

The Panel reserves the right to interrupt the competitor at any time.

Final round concert - Teatro Grande (Brescia) with full orchestra on February 25th 2016 at 9pm.  Eight (8) finalists will be admitted and will perform with full Orchestra. The finalists will perform 1 (one) opera aria, different from those performed during the Qualifying and the Semifinal rounds. At the end of the evening, the winners will be announced. 

Art. 5 Qualifying dispensation 

The winners of 1st prizes of international competitions in Europe (no category) maximum from 2013 inc., are allowed to present themselves straight to the Semifinal round. The competitors must send the original or a notarized photocopy of the diploma or the certificate of award. The Panel will verify the documents under its unappealable judgment. 

Art. 6 No admittance 

The winners of the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 editions of the International Opera Competition “Giacinto Prandelli” are not allowed to enter the 2017 competition.

Art. 7 Music accompaniment 

An official accompaniment will be available. During the Qualifying round only, the competitors will have the opportunity to be accompanied by a pianist of their trust, fees to be paid by them. Competitors may practice with the pianist for max 10 minutes before their performance.

Art. 8 Voting

The decisions of the Panel are unappealable. The vote will be expressed in Yes / No (Qualifying), and in tenths (Semifinal and Final). Voting will be by secret ballot. 

Art. 9 Voting rules 

The member of the Panel who is presenting his/her/own student must abstain from voting. In case of equalty the president of the Panel will determine the vote. 

Art. 10 Performing rules 

Competitors must present with their own music for voice and piano. The order of performance will be determined by drawing of a letter of the alphabet in Brescia in the presence of a notary before the Qualifying round, or no later than February 5th 2017. The competitors must take note of the entry list posted on the website www.concorsogiacintoprandelli.com, and must show off with a ID card on February 20th, 21st and 22nd 2017 from 9am at the Auditorium San Barnaba, Piazzetta Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Brescia. The Qualifying round will take place after the secretary check. Missing competitors will be excluded and no entry fee will be refunded. The list of the semifinalist will be posted on www.concorsogiacintoprandelli.com at the end of the day.

Art. 11 Awards

First prize        € 5.000

Second prize   € 3.000 

Third prize       € 1.500 

Scholarship from the Rotary Club Cortefranca € 800

To the finalists excluded from the awards a reimbursement of € 200 will be guaranteed.

The 50% of the first, second and third award will be cashed on February 25th 2017, the other 50% at the end of any other scheduled exhibitions related to the Competition and no later than December 31st 2017. The scholarship and the reimbursements will be cashed on February 25th 2017.

The Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza may include the winners in the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza Lyric and Concert  Season,  a rare opportunity to enhance their talent through the debut in an Opera or Simphonic Concert.

According to the voice suitability, the winners may be asked to perform in the 2017 summer production of the Brixia Symphony Orchestra. Non acceptance will cause the loss of the 50% of the prize. Prizes are indivisible. No joint winners allowed. 

Art. 12 President of the Competition

The President of the Competition is the Stage manager and my delegate the presidency,  remaining, however, a member of the Panel.

Art. 13 Image right

In the event of television or radio broadcast, or recordings on CD, digital media etc., or the photographing or filming of performances and concerts, competitors may not claim any fees from the broadcasting authority or the Committee. Competitors must agree to their image and name, a description of the context in which they perform, and any audio or video recordings - by any means and in any format, with no temporal or territorial limitation - being produced, used and economically exploited.

Art. 14 Privacy 

Pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30th June 2003 (the Italian Data Protection Act), the Committee hereby guarantee that the processing of personal data received will take place with due regard to the  fundamental rights and freedoms and the dignity of the party concerned, with particular reference to issues of confidentiality and personal identity. Pursuant to art. 13, the competitors authorize the processing or his/her personal data to allow participation in the competition, entry in the official data base for inclusion in the lists drawn up, and communication of further information on similar events or other promoted or organized activities.  Personal data will be handled in accordance with the limits and conditions set forth in art. 11 of the Data Protection Act. Data processing will cover all operations envisaged in art. 4, sub-section 1, letter a), of said Act.  Personal data will be communicated to subjects to whom transmission is permitted by law; in particular, personal data will be disclosed via the press, television and radio. Communication of personal data is optional, but if permission is refused in full or in part, participation in the VI Giacinto Prandelli International Competition will be impossible.  The interested party is entitled to exercise his/her rights under art. 7 of the Data Protection Act. 

Art. 15 Rules acceptance 

It is compulsory for the winners to include the reward obtained in the VI International Opera Competition “Giacinto Prandelli” in their CV. The Committee accepts no responsibility for any damage to persons or property - caused by anyone - in the course of activities relating to the Competition before, during and after it. It disclaims any liability with respect to material, objects or other things that are considered unattended in rooms where the contest is held (Auditorium San Barnaba and the Teatro Grande in Brescia). The Committee saves the right to make any changes to this Regulation if necessary. In this case the changes will be immediately communicated to all competitors which may ask a fee refund if they do not agree upon them. By signing the application form the competitors assume the knowledge and the acceptance of these Rules. In case of cancellation of the Competition - due to force majeure – the entry fee will be refunded. No refund for travel or overnight expenses will be provided. No entry fee refund will be provided in case the competitor for any reason is not able to enter the Competition.

Any dispute will be settled by the Court of Brescia exclusively and the Italian version of the Rules will be considered.
